N4U Guest House a Florence lodging accommodation near Ponte Vecchio
Coming out of Our Bed and Breakfast, N4U Guest House, few steps away you find this famous Bridge. Its history is linked to a young Florentine nobleman who lived in the early '200: Buondelmonte de Buondelmonti young beautiful, elegant and cultured, was here killed at daggers as he rode his white horse, dressed in his Sunday best, the day before Easter 1215.
Buondelmonte had committed a sin of love: he had fell in love with a girl of the Amidei House, promising to marry her, then he pulled back just before the altar, with vague excuses. Of course there was another woman in between: Beatrice Donati, and for this the Amidei took revenge.
The various families of Florence then picked their part: the Amidei or the Donati, and it is said that from here originated the deepest political divisions in Florence, which resulted in bloody battles between the two factions of the Guelphs and Ghibellines.
